The UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC) has announced the first of its web-based seminars for 2025.

The seminars, held over MS Teams, are free to attend and enable a wide range of stakeholders to learn together from leading experts about important screening topics.

The first 2025 seminar will focus on multi-cancer detection tests (MCDs) and will be held on Thursday, 27 February, 10.30am to 12pm.

Complete and submit this short form to register for the event or visit the UK NSC seminars page.

New opportunities and challenges

The event will be chaired by Prof Anne Mackie, UK NSC Director of Programmes, and feature presentations from Dr Jessica Lloyd, strategic evidence manager within Cancer Research UK’s Evidence and Implementation Department, and UK NSC public health registrar Dr Tom Callender. The presentations will be followed by a panel Q&A session.

To date, no screening programme has looked for multiple cancers at once, so MCDs represent a new challenge for screening policy professionals and researchers.

The seminar will explain and explore the technology behind MCDs, their potential use in a screening context, their implications, opportunities, and uncertainties. It will also look at how the UK NSC is bringing together a task group of experts to help determine how the committee will evaluate the evidence for MCDs for screening.

Anyone with a role or interest in screening is welcome to register for the event. Please feel free to share the details with any colleagues who may wish to attend.

We’ll post details of all future UK NSC online seminars on this blog.
